Helping families stay close by providing care when – and where – they need it most.
Reduces stress and inspires fun by providing a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for brothers and sisters of children receiving care in the Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and in nearby inpatient units.
The Ronald McDonald House Sibling Center allows parents to focus on the care of the patient while the siblings engage in age-appropriate play, arts and crafts, and hands on learning opportunities.
The Center is staffed by team members with advanced degrees in child development, education, or related fields. Our team also includes carefully selected Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House Richmond volunteers. Families of pediatric patients can learn more about how they may benefit from the Ronald McDonald House Sibling Center here.
Hospitality Carts are operated by volunteers and stocked with snacks, toiletries, activities, and toys to provide small comforts for families. The Carts bring the care and support of the Ronald McDonald House straight to the hospital rooms of families of seriously ill children.
Our four Hospitality Carts travel the hospital hallways visiting families and patients on pediatric floors of Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, HCA Virginia Johnston-Willis Hospital, the Children’s Pavilion at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, and the Main Pediatric floor of VCU Health.
Items handed out on the Hospitality Cart are generously donated by the Richmond community.
The Hospitality Kiosk is a stationary version of our Hospitality Carts that is located within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center. Offering snacks, activities, toiletries and NICU items, the Kiosk ensures that families in the NICU are never more than steps away from finding comfort and nourishment when they need it most.
Information about our Sibling Center and Hospitality Cart volunteer roles can be found on our Individual Volunteer Opportunities page. To help us stock our local programs with snacks and comfort items, check out our Wish List and In Kind Opportunities page.
