Our Mission is to provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

Caring for families with children who are ill or injured.
When you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community, and ultimately the world. We strive to be part of that change and part of the solution in improving the lives of children and their families by providing programs that strengthen families during the most difficult times in their lives.
We extend our reach and impact by leveraging our 45 years of experience and strong relationships with the Greater Richmond community and people in the field to continually help those in need. We work to improve and expand our core programs, while also developing new services to address the unique needs of the community we serve.
We don’t do it alone. We rely on our strong relationships with the medical community to provide access to health care. We rely on strategic alliances with organizations that have the knowledge and infrastructure to extend our reach. We rely on you – our donors, volunteers, staff and friends.

Since 1980, Ronald McDonald House Richmond has served families of pediatric patients in the Greater Richmond area through our Ronald McDonald House on Monument Avenue and our in-hospital programs that meet families where they are – within hospital walls.
Thanks to the support of the Richmond community, families are never turned away and stay at the Ronald McDonald House free of charge.
If the House is full, we are able to put families up in a hotel for two nights and cover the cost. With our planned Ronald McDonald House in Jackson Ward, we will soon have a total of 56 sleep rooms across our program spaces and hope to never send a family to a hotel.
The house was built in 1913 and Ronald McDonald House Richmond opened on April 15th, 1980. Learn more about our History and how we aim to support families.
Volunteers purchase ingredients to make dinners for families staying in the House or lunches delivered to area hospitals through our Lunches with Love program. Take a look at our Meal Calendar to learn more!
